Casa da Volta
Grandola - Melides - Comporta
Portugal
Usually when you make the committed decision to embrace a slow mindful living, you organically start to support slow travel and slow tourism. Embarking on this new virtuous journey of yours, you give up on noisy, popular and crowded touristic spots, and quickly get used to spending quality time in unique and quiet planet-friendly places. Such as an idyllic and welcoming one-of-kind secluded white house retreat situated in the middle of a rural heaven, filled with heavy cork trees and caramel cows where to enjoy an unforgettable slow Portuguese living, all seasons long. A cozy destination located just a 1.5-hour drive from Lisbon, 30 mins from the Atlantic beaches of Portugal’s Alentejo and the cool coastline of Comporta, where tranquility and simplicity are the masters. An exclusive modern and timeless L-structured six-suite (fresh, luxury and calming) villa with a walled central courtyard, called Casa da Volta ('Home of the return' literally). Designed by Promontorio Architects in collaboration with Silva Cravo studio and built using traditional techniques and local materials, to echo the ancient traditional Portuguese practice of fortified “Alcáçova”, a very special getaway characterized by its geometric minimalism and topped with typical Portuguese roof tiles. A 'home sweet home' away from home where, upon their arrival, guests can easily feel totally safe and relaxed surrounded by Nature, peace, elegance, simplicity, and all the comforts. Bespoke functional, fluid and sophisticated spaces created by talented interior designer José Luis Barbosa who has mostly favored clean lines and soft minimalism with the exception of the addition of a North African arty touch in each room. Turning the house into an unexpected private Art gallery where amusing artworks and curiosities resolutely catch the eye. If Casa da Volta is unquestionably the perfect place to slow down, reconnect with your inner self and Mother Earth, heal if needed, fuel your creativity, or relax by the pool enjoying the breathtaking view of this local magical rural landscape (day and night), the latter is also the perfect location to plan an intimate wedding (less than 60 guests) and of course, to welcome the set of a movie or a photo or video shoot.
