Wooden Beach House by Studio A+1 Architects

Portugal

Living in a beach house by the sea. Not a bad idea, isn't? This is exactly the plan of one International client of Lisbon based studio A+1 Architects. Founded in 2015 by portuguese architects Cristina Fonseca and Emanuel Sousa, the studio has become a reference on the National market in the refurbishment of flats and buildings in the capital as well as in prefabricated wood projects. In this case, the client's request was exactly a wooden house with 2 bedrooms and an open living room with integrated kitchen to receive friends and also enjoy outdoor decks. For him, the two business partners have developed a bespoke prefabricated, sustainable and luxury project: they have chosen a barnhouse type house to guarantee an optimized interior space organisation and the use of an extra room in the mezzanine. They have also integrated a protected and shaded outdoor space for rainy or sunny days. The building designed is totally freestanding and uses the maximum of ecological finishings and solutions. As the project was not designed with a specific land in mind, the client has been so enthusiastic that he has even decided to turn it into a tourist concept to be duplicated namely on the Alentejo Coast .The project is currently being prepared for factory production.
