Carola fra i Trulli

Apulia

Italy

On this planet. In this world. Finding our own happy place is almost the 'holy Grail' of each of us. A place within we can feel safe and happy. A shelter which allows us to heal when needed, regenerate and relax. A special getaway where to enjoy a slow living and the 'Dolce Far Niente', that Italian people are so proud of. Italian Architect Carola Altamura found her own in Apulia, especially in the Itria Valley, the area where her paternal family roots come from. Born and raised in Milan, Carola, who moved to  Florence for love a few years ago, spent her best summer holidays in this little paradise, surrounded by her family and pampered by her beloved granny and grandpa, by the sea and in the middle of this idyllic, magical and wild Mediterranean coast and its unique scents. To pay tribute to this one-of-a-kind cultural and natural heritage and to this almost enchanted valley she cherishes since she was a child, in 2015, Carola has used all her creative, technical and professional know-how to renovate, with the precious help and support of her whole family and, of course, with the one of a great team of experts, some old iconic local architectonic shapes worldwide famous as Trulli,  properties of her family. Located on the Ostuni's hills, the Trulli Boutique Hotel called Trulli La pietraia was born on purpose to welcome international travellers in need of slow vibes, authenticity and sustainability. In the middle of the pandemic, in 2021, the happy owner and host had another beautiful entrepreneurial idea: she launched 'Carola fra i Trulli', a niche line of premium perfumed candles, room sprays and diffusers. The perfect opportunity for her to pair her everlasting love for Design, with Apulian authentic craftsmanship and fine home fragrances 'Made in Italy'. Because, even though she has become an architect, she always had a passion for designing decorative objects for the home. Inspired by the characteristic Trulli and designed by Carola, each diffuser is handmade in Italy by small skilled artisans reinventing the traditional Apulian dripping technique of "Macchiato" with innovative colors. In order to help to preserve our precious environment, only natural materials such as ceramic, glass, soy wax, raw linen and recycled cardboard, are used. Because sustainability is a priority for Carola who has chosen to be a committed and proud ambassador of the slow movement. Expressly born as the poetic olfactory tale of her childhood summer memories, as the famous 'Madeleine' of French Author Proust,  the Trulli Fragrance Collection allows Carola to reconnect with her beloved land.  By smelling the scents she recreated, it's truly like travelling there with the mind. It will really be like having a piece of perfumed Apulia and its magnificent Itria Valley in your living room. You'll be for sure captivated. The collection is composed of eight iconic botanical fragrances: Citrus Grove, Juniper Berries, Fig leaves, Oak Wood, Almond, Rosa di Macchia, Lavender & Iris and Pomegranate. Not only Home fragrance but also Home Decor. After presenting it to the buyers at the last edition of Parisian  Maison&Objet Fair last January,  during the Milan Design Week 2024, the brand will showcase 'La Casa Incantata', its first Lifestyle Collection at the Milanese Event 'TERRASZA MILANO 2024'. Organized under the supervision of the A4A Rivolta Savioni Architetti studio and curated by Guendalina Perelli and Lucia Legè, a special event, which will take place,  from 15th to 21th April, at Il Giardino di Alik, located in Via de Amicis 17 in the 5VIE design district and that, for the first time, will celebrate the love of outdoor life between nature, design and art, alongside the sculptures of Alik Cavaliere, one of the great masters of contemporary art of the second half of the 20th century.  The perfect occasion for the public to discover new olfactory objects and exclusive textile inserts, including a plaid made using the precious yarn of the indigenous Italian wool variety 'Gentile di Puglia', made by a historic Apulian weaving mill according to ancient traditional techniques. 'Carola fra i Trulli' products are now available at Nashville-based Alexander Interiors, JelmoliArtemestEnnyMonacoBon Voyage IntérieurGalleria ValencienneLAMP/LDN, Le Parfum. Also in the boutiques of Apulian Masseria Torre Maizza and Sicilian Verdura Resort, properties of the Rocco Forte Hotels group and in the one of Apulian Palazzo DanieleIf you are planning to visit Florence- the city where Carola lives and works-, you should absolutely drop by the brand's workshop and flagship store, opened in December 2022 and  located in the heart of the city in Piazza Mentana 7R and open from 11.00 to 7 pm.
