LA FERVANCE

Paris- Melbourne

France/Australia

Life is beautiful because we never know exactly what the latter has in store for us. It is always a surprise. Australian-born Mélissa Obeid didn't indeed know that, one day, she would literaly fall in love with France, moved there with her family, years after and found her own 'Made in France' natural and clean luxury French brand with Australian roots called LA FERVANCE (‘Fervance’ is the old French word for ‘ferveur’ or ‘fervor’ in English). A long-lasting love story which started, by chance, as Mélissa, as many Aussies used to do in their twenties, travelled around Europe and spent some time in Paris in the early '90s, together with her bestie. A week before they should have flown back home, something happened: as they were chilling out at the terrace of a café, her BFF found an ad for a month-long seminar at the Paris Fashion Institute, in an expat's mag she was reading. She convinced Mélissa to apply. She did it and unexpectately, like in a fairytale,  she was accepted and met Mrs Joan White, the PFI's founder, who became soon her mentor and took her under her wing. This unforgetable amazing experience truly changed her life and opened the right doors to her; Then she cut her teeth at a fashion label Press Office, as a stylist and assistant for Sonia Rykiel, Paloma Picasso, Jean-Paul Gaultier and as wardrobe manager. She made connections and friends for life. If Fashion became her path in Paris, when she came back home in Melbourne in 1996, she quickly moved into advertising and event management and then became senior manager at the National Gallery of Victoria under the Directorship of Dr. Gerard Vaughan. At that time, the museum staged major French exhibitions as one on the Australian 'Terre Napoléon’, Napoléon & Josephine's fascination, which inspired an expedition (1800-1803) returning in with over 200,000 species of flora and fauna. For Mélissa, it was like France was calling her back. She listened to her heart and, in 2016, together with her husband Jamie Arnold, who is also her perfect business partner, and their children, they settled in Provence for two years in a Bastide called LA FERVANCE, the name they then chose for their Clean Beauty's brand. A brand new life, far away from the security bubble of their comfortable beachside life in Melbourne started. In this happy place, a new exciting and challenging entrepreneurial family business grew slowly with the dedication of all the members. The children were indeed involved in every step of the brand's development, laboratory visits, trade shows, choice of colour's palettes, fragrances, font's styles, Instagram.  In a few years, LA FERVANCE turned itself from an emergent French beauty start-up to a successful and flourishing 100 % natural luxury skincare brand. Offering a simplified routine with amplified results,  highly concentrated products with multi-functional uses and textures, complemented by exclusive bespoke 100% natural perfumes created in Grasse as the iconic Eclat Extraordinaire gold-infused beauty balmA one-of-a-kind and innovative Fusionistique Skincare ™ approach which fuses ingredient, packaging- French made 100% recyclable-, culture, usage, and elements into a new philosophy in skincare. A committed and proud ambassador of SLOW and Clean beauty, which acts for a sustainable world, using ingredients which are only sustainably-sourced and COSMOS-certified by Ecocert. Definitively a brand to trust.
