Some brands were born from an old dream come true. Some others instead were born, out of the blue, from a crush. As was Holi & Love, the fair trade and eco-conscious fashion brand founded in 2018 in India by Julie Wouters, a Belgian fashion designer and happy mum-of-4 with a passion for travels. After moving to the home country of legendary leader of Nonviolence Mahatma Gandhi in 2017 with her family to follow her husband's work, she started to collect at home what Indian handicrafts can offer in terms of design, texture and colour. And then, unexpectedly, she literally fell in love with fabrics printed with a wood stamp, using the traditional technique of "block printing". She went to meet the talented artisans and discover the behind the scenes of the production. In 2018, her own brand called Holi-as the famous festival of colour which celebrates the beginning of Spring- & Love was established with the ambition to promote this one-of-a-kind and rich heritage of Indian craftsmanship while respecting the environment and human beings. From a very small production of bags, accessories and home textile produced in the respect of ancestral craft technique and using exclusively certified organic quilted cotton GOTS to the first clothing collection Spring-Summer 2023 for babies, kids and women. All the Holi & Love branded pieces are ethically made in order to ensure that everyone in the supply chain can make a living from what they earn. The design is timeless and follows no trends by choice. As a committed-to-the-environment entrepreneur and founder, Julie takes very seriously care of producing as little waste as possible and in a responsible way to preserve the resources and the planet. She is resolutely an inspirational female role model to follow. A generous human being. A happy woman who is enjoying her new journey.
