AMBLEME

Lugano

Switzerland

If life is mostly unpredictable, sometimes however you can have some good intuition of what the future holds. Stefanie Fusi, a versatile Swiss-Italian creative consultant, born and raised in Lugano, knows exactly that strange and deep feeling. Since she was a child, she had been captivated by the beauty and aesthetic of Fashion and lifestyle magazines. In those glossy pages, she indeed saw a reflection of her own personality, and a world that sparked her imagination and allowed her to dream."Every sunday we visited Granny in Como, I remembered stopping by the newsstand with a banknote of 10.000 Lire in my hand to buy some magazines. I admired the photo shoots, and loved the smell of paper." she told us. For this reason, Stefanie knew deep down for a long time that, one day, she would establish her own business in the Fashion industry. This would be the perfect way for her to express her personality and her personal core values and share them with the world. It was really just a question of timing and training before it finally and naturally happened. Armed with this strong intuition of hers, she first pursued studies in Business Administration and Management at Milanese Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and then graduated from the prestigious Istituto Europeo di Design with a thesis on the fascinating world of startups. After completing her studies, Stefanie worked for a while in the publishing industry before putting naturally her expertise and skills at the service of startuppers and owners. This experience on the field supporting them and learning from their experiences, failures, and successes, made her realize that she really had the drive and vision to become an entrepreneur. Her entrepreneurial journey started in summer 2018 with the launch of her first collection of luxury women's flat sandals (her favorite summer must have since ever) under the brand AMBLEME. A clever fusion between the English word 'amble', which represents the peaceful and elegant way horses walk and the French word 'embleme' which symbolizes a particular quality or concept. A limited edition inspired by Modernism- especially by some architectural masterpieces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea- composed by six items and called CABANON (as the famous one of Le Corbusier built in Cap-Martin in 1952), MALAPARTE (as Casa Malaparte built in Capri by Adalberto Libero in 1942), UGALDE (as Casa Ugualde built in 1951 in Caldes D'estrac by Josep Antoni Coderch ), AURUM (as Villa Oro built in Posillipo in 1934 by architect Luigi Cosenza), MADRAGUE (as the Saint-Tropez-based villa of French actress Brigitte Bardot) and HARTLEY (as Casa Hartley built by Alberto Ponis in Sardinia in 1970). Stefanie is an “unfortunately” perfectionist at heart -as she is used to describing herself smiling-, hard worker and self-taught entrepreneur: she has built the business from the ground up, running it, step by step; learning on the field along the way and overcoming difficulties with a lot of patience and dedication. Surrounded and supported by a selected group of skilled Italian craftsmen who share her passion for excellence, she has become the happy founder and creative director of a thriving young Italian luxury accessory and lifestyle brand that is committed to quality and innovation, stands out from the competition and perfectly reflects her vision."The beauty of craftsmanship lies in the fact that it molds everything with care and as we approach a slower concept of living, we value the sensibility that is put in every art." she told us. In addition to being a big supporter and lover of the Italian way of life and heritage at 360°, who believes in cherishing and promoting the best that her homeland has to offer, Stefanie is also a proud ambassador of Slow fashion and Slow living: she strongly believes in the virtuous and responsible choice of placing importance on choosing curation rather than accumulation. As a committed slowpreneur, her purpose is to design unique, high-quality shoes that defy trends and stand the test of time. Small shoemaker artworks with an essential aesthetic, a high-flattering design and provided with a distinctive and innovative sole construction, which offer an unparalleled comfort and, that you'll fall in love with, cherish, carry over from mother to daughter. And, in case of need, you will absolutely bring to your trusted cobbler. A well-done hard task as Genius of Italian Art Bruno Munari claimed: ''Complicating is easy, simplifying is difficult. Everyone can complicate. Few can simplify".Timeless, minimalistic, versatile and sophisticated flats exclusively crafted using the finest Italian leathers- mostly sourced by Tuscan tanneries- as well as haute couture fabrics and silks from the esteemed Como textile district. At AMBLEME, a special attention has also been given to the sourcing of scraps and deadstock materials to support the circular economy and give rise to “The Find Collection”, which is made of unique items or very limited editions. Looking towards the future, a special dream for the near future would be to build a network of affiliated cobblers, a dying breed, who will take care of the beloved and collectible shoes of the growing AMBLEME's community. Modern and active women who are living their daily life with passion, personality, freedom and elegance, embrace the present, appreciate and value the Little things. One can’t help but imagine style icon and trailblazer Jackie Kennedy wearing a pair of AMBLEME during her summertime adventures around the Mediterranean. These shoes would have perfectly embodied her spirit of subtle elegance, freedom, allure and graceful simplicity, which lie at the core of the brand.
