Hôtel de la Plage

Village de l'Herbe

Cap Ferret

France

In South-Western France, one hour away from the metropolis of Bordeaux, on the peninsula of Cap Ferret, there is a classified 'Picturesque site' . An authentic and timeless destination called 'Le village de l'Herbe', dedicated to oyster farming since 1860. In this one-of-a-kind natural and beautiful eco-conscious spot, perfect for slow tourism lovers, there is a special place, open all year round, located by the waterfront. A true institution in town. Recognisable thanks to its all-wood architecture and cream-and-red façade, A former dormitory and canteen for pine resin workers run for many years by cousins “Janine and Michou” and property, since 2011, of Nicolas Lascombes and his wife Stessy Faber, the founders of Maison Faber Lascombes , established in 2006. An identically-rebuilt and fully-renovated (by Atelier Delphine Carrère) twelve-bedroom hotel which looks like a kind of cosy family home. 'We wanted to create an unusual house that gives guests the impression that they are staying at their grandparents’… Here there is no television, air conditioning, minibar or electronic key.' Each room is unique and has its own name as Lino, Nathalie, Renaud or Audrey..-, that of a famous person or someone who has left their mark on the place in some way. From the balcony of some rooms, it is possible to admire the breathtaking view over the Ile aux oiseaux and Arcachon. By day or night. To delight the palate or have a drink, the lucky clientele can choose between a 120-seat restaurant with three fireplaces, a lounge, a bar hut for snacks and tapas, a central bar serving home-made pastries and low-sugar desserts cooked by chef Marilou Tamarelle- who revisits the classics of French gastronomy in a modern key-  a 60-seat covered terrace and a 60-seat open terrace facing the hotel. At l'Hôtel de la Plage, customers can enjoy  a slow living near the sea. But also, the latter have been given the opportunity to  experience the benefits of a Slow and healthy cuisine prepared with simplicity, authenticity and dedication by Djordje Ercevic, executive chef since 2017. The mission of the owners is indeed to pamper their clients and make them feel good and relaxed. Just having a good time in a welcoming atmosphere. Making unforgettable memories and ready to come back. The small quiet luxury hotel is proudly a committed-to-the-environment one. It is a big part of its journey. Using local and organic ingredients and delicacies is a priority. The toiletries available in the rooms and sold in the gift shop are made by eco-conscious skincare brand Océopin. Because hospitality must be compliant with sustainability, especially if your establishment is based in a marine protected area as the Parc Naturel Marin du Bassin d'Arcachon. It all makes sense.
