Lea Roesch
Berlin
Germany

From an early age, Berlin-based Lea Roesch knew exactly which dream job would perfectly suit her personality and make her truly happy. As the granddaughter of two seamstresses grannies and as the daughter of a stylish and elegant woman who nurtures a deep interest for fashion, becoming a fashion designer has really been in Lea's plans forever. And one day, at the young age of 15, after being by chance and unexpectedly scouted, she entered the Fashion industry and started a successful and still-on-going career of model. A good job that, in 2019, allows her to establish- just on her own without the need of any investors- LEA ROESCH her niche and premium eco-conscious eponymous label of clothes and bags. Almost a decade before, she modeled for the first lookbook of PB 0110, the hannover-based premium and sustainable leather bags and accessories designed by Philipp Bree and handcrafted by skilled artisans. A beautiful and inspirational experience to her: " I was immediately deeply impressed by Philipp's work, his sense of zeitgeist and design, the sensitivity but also directness that he approaches both humans as well as products with. So it is always a great pleasure for me whenever we are lucky enough to bump into each other since." she remembers. Inspired by such a talented designer but also deeply by her own mom. A strong female role model very close to her that she learned so much from about life but also about fashion, "I always think of her as one of the best dressed women I know. The most important lesson, that she told me, is probably to rather save my money to buy one good piece (shoe , sweater, etc ) that can lift up my look instead of many. " she claims. A precious tip that directly influenced her being an eco-conscious and responsible consumer and becoming a committed-to-the-environment entrepreneur and eco founder. But also the DNA and brand identity of her brand which represents who she is as a woman. As proud supporter of slow fashion with a virtuous mission trained at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin, Lea designs and products, in small batches and in a sustainable (using leftovers and deadstocks) and durable way, timeless and delicate garments and sculptural and unconventional bags made to last, that are suitable for each modern women of all ages and that flatter every body type. As a generous human being and a committed female entrepreneur who sincerely cares and has made ethicality a priority of hers, Lea is now willing to empower other women in need. In addition to collaborating with a workshop based in Brandenburg that collaborates with people with disabilities, in the near future, she indeed would like to start collaborating with women locally based in Berlin who are refugees or face difficulties finding work due to language barriers or being mothers to small children. "I want to offer them the opportunity to work from home, helping them become independent by earning their own money. As fashion is one of the industries with the most inhumane working conditions, in addition to its huge environmental impact, I feel a strong responsibility to create jobs that are inclusive of everyone, especially those who have less access to fairly paid work." What a beautiful, bold and inspiratinal way to manage a small business and support each other, isn't it?
