Mykke Hofmann

Munich

Germany

Rooted in the Balkans and Germany-Based, Mykke Hofmann is resolutely not only a cosmopolitan, contemporary and sustainable womenswear label like the others. Founded in 2017 by Jelena Hofmann, a Belgrade-Born and raised in Lagos in Nigeria Female entrepreneur and fashion designer, the latter is also aimed to be a real changemaker for the fashion industry but also for the whole society. Jelena is indeed a determined and passionate woman on a mission: to empower women by designing garments able to make  them feel special and invincible and give them a great feeling that will support them in pursuing what they’ve set their minds to. The Mykke Hofmann's tribe is composed of women like her, wifes, mums, global citizens with an open mind and heart and a bold attitude. Fierce superwomen with both feet on the ground who never forget their origins. Women like her own mother from whom she learned, as a kid, two important principles of Fashion, she then made her own: a simple core with sophisticated details and buy less, choose well. A second one which has clearly influenced in a good way her current slow-fashion and sustainable approach. Jelena has chosen to base all the production in Belgrade where the brand owns its own factory. "The advantage of owning a factory is the ability to control every step of production, beginning from the first sketch, ending with a finished piece. We don‘t only produce our own collections but also offer production & management for other brands that wish to take the sustainable route, just like we did. All of our workers are paid 50% above regulated wages. We support young talent and value experience - our production manager Jovana is 24 and our average seamstress is 50 years old. We have the flexibility to handle smaller quantities, but also the ability to scale up, so we are super flexible" she explains. Jelena is a proud and happy wife and mum living in Munich who daily supports other women. You won't surprise to hear that as the brand mantra is '"Here‘s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them".
