There are thousands of reasons that motivate a human being to launch a brand and become a founder and entrepreneur. Professional or personal. As the one that brought, in 2014, Birgit Kadak, an Estonian-born-and-raised mother of two and MA graduated at the prestigious London College of Fashion, to establish Bebe Organic, her premium sustainable and ethical childrenswear brand 'Made in Portugal'. After her first-born was unfortunately diagnosed with atopic dermatitis, Birgit started struggling with finding kids clothings manufactured using exclusively natural and organic fabrics, that were gentle for sensitive skins and respectful of the environment. A big eye-opener for Birgit was also the Greenpeace's investigation “A little story about the monsters in your closet” that reported the massive and common use of synthetic fabrics full of dangerous chemicals in the Fashion Industry. It had been such a deep disappointment for her to realize that even Luxury and expensive kids clothing brands do not care at all. As a loving mother who wants the best for her kid, she then made the decision to use her training and expertise to design and produce herself her own small timeless collection using exclusively organic and natural materials. Bebe Organic was born with the virtuous purpose of offering other committed mothers like her the opportunity to make the right and conscious choice as mothers, human beings and consumers. Both for their kids and the planet. Every year, the eco-responsible and ethical brand, which has recently turned 10, creates two unique limited-edition collections, manufactured with care and dedication following traditional methods in Portugal- a country close to the founder and creative director's heart- by small family-run factories. All the fabrics, locally sourced from Portugal, as organic cotton certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OCS (Organic Content Standard), linen, wool and recycled materials, are natural and organic. Inspired by Birgit's great passion, motherhood, sustainability and travel, every single garment is designed to be as beautiful as practical in order to be used as long as possible thanks to good care, repair and perhaps redesign. And when no longer desired, the latter should be handed into a secondhand shop, donated to charity or passed down to future generations to prolong its active life. The Bebe Organic's wardrobe is contemporary and stylish with a very special vintage and artisanal touch characterized by signature romantic flower prints, elegant embroideries, laces, and softest knits in distinctive hues. Since the beginning, a particular attention to detail had been the young and promising brand's priority and a key of its success. Innovation is also a big part of the journey with a steady search of new technologies and processes that reduce environmental impact and provide a sustainable and safer choice. Bebe Organic stands out from the crowd and shows the way towards a slow and commiited fashion for kids. What our little ones deserve to grow up happy in total safety.
