After introducing the world to healthy meal kits and a revolutionary flower-service,  willing to make a genuine difference in the personal care industry, Maartje Frederiks and Patrick Hurenkamp found themselves on a challenging quest. The two committed Dutch ecopreneurs and passionate believers in the power of thoughtful products started looking for new and inspiring ways to  positively impact people's daily routines. The duo joined forces with a local Frisian soap factory, some curious R&D teams and a dedicated product designer. They scoured woodlands, meadows and botanical gardens sourcing natural ingredients that could soothe, ground and restore. They tested, tinkered and formulated, from fragrance to foaminess and texture to tingle, ensuring each aspect was nothing less than perfect. Their purposeful journey brought them to establish ajen, their recently-launched premium botanical (>97% ingredients of natural origin) eco-conscious home and body care collection, locally crafted in the Netherlands and infused with active organic botanicals. A kinder routine, inspired by nature, toxic-free and responsibly made, without compromising on quality, that brings peace to our mind, nourishes our body and hair, purifies our skin, and lifts our mood. At Ajen, innovation is synonymous with simplicity, authenticity and sustainability.“Inspired by the beautiful source of nature, we feel a deep responsibility to adopt the finest sustainable production techniques, materials, and processes. It's simply our duty.” claims co-founder Maartje Frederiks. The essential range is composed of five products: Gentle Hand Wash, Comforting Hand Balm, Grounding Body Wash, Balancing Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner. Available in two fragrances created in partnership with Dutch-French perfumers: Wilderloof is woody and serene with warm notes of cedarwood and amber balanced by fresh clove and coriander, while Citruspeper brings bright citrus tones of lemon and mandarin contrasted with spicy ginger and grounding clary sage. The young Amsterdam-based label, supporter of the plastic soup foundation and soon-to-be certified B corp is proudly also sustainable by design. The refined, timeless and durable bottles for kitchen/vanity and the shower bottles, made from premium glass and stainless steel, can be used endlessly. You can order a starter set (empty infinite bottle + its refill pouch) and refill it when needed. And purchase a gift set for a family member or a friend of yours that you would like to follow in your footsteps. The perfect way to support a mindful consumption and help reducing the worldwide plastic pollution. But also to take care of yourself. A full virtuous circle.
