Vipp Cold Hawaii
Denmark
If, by chance, you are looking for a unique secluded eco-friendly retreat where to spend some quality time surrounded by nature this spring, we could have the one that perfectly suits all your expectations: This is Vipp Cold Hawaii, a look-a-like solitary modern classic fisherman’s cottage located on the North-Western flank of Denmark’s Jutland-peninsula and immersed in the preserved Danish Thy National Park .
A little paradise, far away from a fast-paced life, where SLOW-LIVING ENTHUSIASTS but also WAVE-HUNTERS can feel at home, slow down and enjoy the ocean in full harmony with Mother Earth.
Shaped by centuries of sand migration, in only a few decades the small fishing community of Cold Hawaii- the nickname for the Danish old fishing village of Klitmøller- has indeed became a modern surf hub that has since 2010 hosted the international championship Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup.
Opened in February 2024, this spacious (185 sqm) contemporary two-storey guesthouse- with rooms for up to 8 people- not far away from the tiny town of Vangså is one of the 15 gems of the curated niche and premium real-estate collection of Vipp Residences ,an initiative by the renowned Danish Design Brand Vipp, a 3rd generation family-run and family-owned company, founded in 1939 by metalsmith Holger Nielsen who crafted a pedal-controlled waste bin for his wife’s hairdressing salon. A brilliant concept of co-owned vacation homes wrapped in bespoke architecture and design thought by Kasper Egelund, the CEO and 3rd generation co-owner.
Designed by talented Danish-Swedish duo of architects Caroline Hahn and Ebbe Lavsen , who live in the neighborhood and know very well the area, the welcoming and cosy residence, built on an untamed 9900 m² piece of land with a breathtaking view on an idyllic and natural coastal cenery, is a perfect masterpiece of Slow architecture. Embracing a bold minimalism, the architecture features a limited material palette- only 5- , honest expression, and intentional rawness.
“When you step out the door, you step into a national park. The sensation of being in a no-man's land, almost in a moon-landscape strikes you. Like the unspoiled rawness of nature that embraces you upon arrival, the house greets you with an unvarnished straightforwardness”, says Lavsen.
Inside the furniture is no exception. Sobriety and functionality take center stage. Interior designer Julie Cloos Mølsgaard aimed indeed to make the Vipp guesthouse in Cold Hawaii as tranquil and comfortable as possible, creating somewhere guests would want to stay longer and where they could simply relax surrounded by the untamed nature. She nailed it.
